Today I was talking to a dear friend, a sister really.  We talked about keeping inner peace. We agree we need to be a ship’s anchor, at times.  When the waters rage and the sea is uneven and the ship rocks; just be the anchor.  Lodge yourself down there where the ground is still under you.  Just let that uneven sea storm and rage.  Keep your eye on the path- even if you are in water.   Keep steady -even in the midst of those near and close to you who might likely sink the ship.  Keep yourself calm and let the armies of God tend the war while you keep peace in your heart; while you make certain the evilness in you doesn’t stowaway and try to pirate the ship and take all the goods.

Growing together

a community of plants

The Church of Christ might be like plants.  Some plants look different than others.  In a lens view you can see many differences.  Still, they all belong in the same place.  Maybe Jesus made us all different so we can hold different qualities, views, perspectives and opportunities.  I like to think we are all put here to prevail HIS will.  I like to think we compliment each other like the plants that make a garden beautiful.  These creations were made to be beautiful.

A small contingency of a variety of ages and genders departed for Rosarito, Mexico very early the day after Christmas.  After twelve hours of caravanning we arrived at our base camp.  The camp has bunks and beds, pillows and sheets, showers (some days) and a kitchen that produced dozens of pieces of bacon every morning.  My day begins cooking bacon. At the head of every day is breakfast: fresh eggs, bacon, Sonia’s salsa and prayer.

After years of dormant Spanish speaking; some of my abilities with Spanish returned.  But sometimes there are better things than words.  A loving gaze, a reassuring smile, a gentle touch, a piece of bacon; these things communicate well too.  The people we met were open to our efforts.  They were kind to our group and thankful.

Add Mexico to our prayers.  Pray for the orphans and the young girls that have been trafficked.  Pray for the families.

Thanks for reading and for praying….
